Physical Therapy for Basketball Injuries
Playing basketball takes a high level of agility, the precision of movement and stops, fast pivots, and quantum vertical leaps (take off, peak height and landing). It requires players to routinely use their bodies to their advantage –to fight for position, to intentionally draw contact in the air while shooting the ball, thereby using their forearms and elbows to ward off defenders. Predictably this has led to the following common injuries: ACL and MCL INJURIES, ANKLE SPRAINS, FRACTURED KNEEDCAPS, HIP AND THIGH CONTUSIONS, FOOT FRACTURES, PATELLOFEMORAL PAIN SYNDROME & JAMMED FINGERS.
